Eagles Ridge Ranch,
River Falls, WI, in cooperation with the Minnesota 4-H Horse Association announce the sixth
WIN A PAINT HORSE competition. The WIN A PAINT HORSE competition is open to all Minnesota 4-H members actively involved
in or planning to be involved in the 4-H horse project. Eagles Ridge Ranch will donate to the competition one weanling horse
guaranteed to be sound and correct in conformation, of good disposition and bloodlines, possess a negative coggins test, and
be eligible for registration (non-breeding stock) with the American Paint Horse Association.
Contest Rules:
Contestants will submit a one-page ONLY typed essay on what ownership of this horse would mean to them including how
they would provide care, the environment in which the horse would be raised, and any other pertinent and/or human-interest
information they wish to share. Entries may be received at the Minnesota 4-H Horse Association between
January 1st and September 4th, 2007. Upon receipt entries will be blinded and a review committee, comprised
of personnel from Eagles Ridge Ranch and the Minnesota 4-H Horse Association, will select five finalists. The finalists
will then be interviewed by phone to select the winner. The Consent and Release of Liability form must be completed
and accompany essay. Incomplete entries will not be judged.
The
winner of the WIN A PAINT HORSE competition will be notified by phone. Transfer of ownership and presentation to the winner
will occur at the 2006 MN State 4-H Horse Show. The weanling will be present for viewing at the Minnesota State Fair and for
the duration of the Minnesota 4-H State Horse show. It is the expectation of Eagles Ridge Ranch and the Minnesota 4-H
Horse Association that the winner agrees to bring the properly cared for horse to the 2008 State 4-H Horse Show for exhibit
and related special events; successive shows as an option. Previous winners are ineligible.
